Congrats, Amanda!! Only a senior at AHS and she has a career! After completing a 12 week CNA course at Helping Hands Trade School in Winslow, Amanda is on a career track. When asked why she wanted to be a CNA she said that she wants to help people and overcome her shyness. Her state boards were held March 24, 2009 and she said the state test was easier than her class final exam. Good luck, Amanda!
Also, Amanda is attempting to create our first Electronic Yearbook (EYB) for the class of 2009 complete with multimedia effects - and with a little luck, student collaboration (and money), she may pull this off: “I’ll try.,” she says. Any teacher here will tell you she is the quintessential student: friendly, hard working, focused. The EYB is a unique endeavor when compared to hardbound yearbooks. A single disk will contain a slide cast (with music and narration), a virtual tour of the school (with music and narration), sound bytes from teachers and students, and finally a private AHS Class of 2009 Facebook page with comments, chatter, and remember whens…. The biggest challenge (and we’re not sure it has been tried before) is that the EYB disc will have a designer skin and will be set in a designer CD-box that could be used for student signatures and farewells –much like the old yearbooks. Currently, she has culled hundreds of photos and is working on the superlatives section. This is a large undertaking but other teachers feel that if anybody can pull it off it is Amanda.
